VANDERBURGH COUNTY, INDIANA
Scott Township is one of eight townships in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, covering more than 41 square miles in the county's northwestern region. Established on August 13, 1821, the township was named for early settler Samuel Scott and has grown into one of the fastest-growing communities in Vanderburgh County.
According to the 2020 Census, Scott Township is home to 10,249 residents and 4,338 housing units. The township is governed by an elected Township Trustee and a three-member Township Advisory Board, providing essential services including fire services & EMS, township assistance, cemetery maintenance, park administration, and other services authorized under Indiana law.
Scott Township is committed to serving the community through quality public facilities and recreational opportunities. Scott Township Park features more than 115 acres of walking trails, a fishing lake, playgrounds, natural areas, and a rentable shelter house. The township also owns the Scott Township Ball Park, where the Scott Township Recreation Booster Club hosts youth baseball and softball leagues, and Evansville Christian School's baseball program plays on the North Field.
Public safety has also evolved alongside the community. In 2025, the Scott Township and German Township Fire Departments merged to form the Vanderburgh County Fire Department, expanding fire protection and emergency services across more than 100 square miles of northwestern Vanderburgh County.

Located inside the Scott Township Ball Park, our pickleball courts are open to the public with lights available for after dark enjoyment. Our mission is to create an experience where beginners and veteran players are treated equally and people are more important than the game.
Scott Township Park is located at 2112 Schlensker Road and is approximately 115 acres. The park consists of a playground, shelter house available for rent, lake, and several walking trails. While the park is open year round, the road is closed during winter hours.
Scott Township Ball Park is located at the corner of Hwy 41 and Radio Ave. The park consists of three fields plus a dedicated, grass tee ball field. It hosts both baseball and softball teams with players ranging in ages from 3 to 18 years old. The Clubhouse is available for rent.
FIRE AND EMS
We are the only fire department in the Tri-State area to provide advanced life support ambulance services to our residents. Our department was established in 1956, and as our community has grown, so have we. The Vanderburgh County Fire Department currently operates fire stations that span several townships and the City of Darmstadt, with our headquarters located on Baseline Rd.
Vanderburgh County Fire Department provides fire protection, medical services, public education, inspections, and aid in other types of emergencies for persons and property in the area of the Scott Township Fire Territory, which includes Scott Township, the Town of Darmstadt, German Township and Armstrong Township. In addition, we also provide assistance to other agencies during times of need through our mutual aid agreements.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Fire Territory will begin response to German Township.
